Learners with disabilities among the top matric achievers

At a breakfast hosted by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, at the MTN campus, three learners living with disabilities made it into the top achievers for the matric class of 2023.

Asanda Mchunu and Xoliswa Nkabinde from Kwathintwa School for the Deaf in KZN, and Amahle Jemane from De La Bat School for the Deaf in WC were honoured among the top achievers by the Minister.

The three learners have high ambitions for their futures and despite their disabilities, managed to shine in the top percentile of National Senior Certificate matric graduates. They spoke to Disability Connect at the breakfast.
