COVID-19 brought to light the importance of manufacturing vaccines on the African continent and the Biovac Institute has been at the forefront of response, not only to the pandemic, but to other diseases such as measles, pneumonia, tuberculosis and hepatitis B.

Biovac’s core philosophy is to establish a sustainable world class international African vaccine manufacturing capability by contributing to protecting life through development, manufacture & supply of much needed and effective vaccines & other biologicals.

One of the key objectives at Biovac is to strengthen the pharmaceutical and healthcare environment in South Africa and Africa, by contributing consciously and responsibly to the socio-economic transformation of society, including people with disabilities.
