STEM for those living with disabilities

Transformation within the CSIR is focussed on attracting and retaining the right calibre of employee, with an emphasis on women and people living with disabilities in middle and senior positions.

Through the youth employment services programme (YES), young people living with disabilities are placed within the CSIR and their SMEs in the science and engineering fields, as well as support functions like finance, legal and human resources.

Saddam Matanzima, Manager for Technical Development and Learning at the CSIR told Disability Connect at the 2024 Disability Summit and Career Expo that the CSIR aims to partner with institutions that can assist in attracting people living with disabilities into their programmes……
