Approved on 30 May 2025, the policy is designed to ensure all citizens\u2014regardless of physical ability\u2014can access public transport safely, affordably, and with dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By <a href=\"https:\/\/iol.co.za\/news\/2025-05-31-cape-towns-universal-access-policy-approved-to-enhance-transport-for-all-citizens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">IOL<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The policy forms part of Cape Town\u2019s commitment to becoming a fully inclusive and caring city. It outlines guidelines for the design and operation of transport services and public spaces, including infrastructure improvements, better signage, accessible ticketing systems, and staff training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City officials said the policy was developed in consultation with disability rights groups and aims to eliminate the barriers that often prevent equitable access to mobility.
