{"id":7068,"date":"2023-08-15T08:28:33","date_gmt":"2023-08-15T06:28:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/disabilityconnect.co.za\/?p=7068"},"modified":"2023-08-15T08:28:33","modified_gmt":"2023-08-15T06:28:33","slug":"engen-steps-up-in-support-of-merewent-cheshire-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.disabilityconnectexpo.com\/index.php\/2023\/08\/15\/engen-steps-up-in-support-of-merewent-cheshire-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Engen steps up in support of Merewent Cheshire Home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Merewent Cheshire Home has provided care to South Durban residents living with disability for almost three decades; but now amidst a funding crunch the home is facing major challenges to continue covering the basic needs of its vulnerable residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Identified by the Community-Engen Joint Committee as a community service in need of support, Engen has stepped forward in support of the home with a R40K total contribution, including a R10K fuel voucher and medical equipment such as a Blood Pressure Monitor, Blood Glucose Monitor, Bath Hoist and a Medical Trolley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/dev.disabilityconnectexpo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Engen-donated-medical-equipment-including-aBlood-Pressure-Monitor-Blood-Glucose-Monitor-Bath-Hoist-and-a-Medical-Trolley-to-Chesire-Home.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7069\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dev.disabilityconnectexpo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Engen-donated-medical-equipment-including-aBlood-Pressure-Monitor-Blood-Glucose-Monitor-Bath-Hoist-and-a-Medical-Trolley-to-Chesire-Home.jpg 900w, https:\/\/dev.disabilityconnectexpo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Engen-donated-medical-equipment-including-aBlood-Pressure-Monitor-Blood-Glucose-Monitor-Bath-Hoist-and-a-Medical-Trolley-to-Chesire-Home-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dev.disabilityconnectexpo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Engen-donated-medical-equipment-including-aBlood-Pressure-Monitor-Blood-Glucose-Monitor-Bath-Hoist-and-a-Medical-Trolley-to-Chesire-Home-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Merewent Cheshire Home provides residents with 24-hour care, nutritious meals, laundry and cleaning, access to a nurse and social worker, psychosocial support, specialized transport as required, social activities, sports and other forms of development and entertainment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Engen\u2019s head of Transformation and Stakeholder Engagement, Dr James Xolani Nyawera was joined by members of the Community-Engen Joint Committee at the official handover, which took place at Merewent Cheshire Home on 10 August 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCommunity well-being and disability inclusion is one of Engen\u2019s key social investment focus areas, giving the company the opportunity to contribute towards inclusive disability rights in South Africa,\u201d commented Dr Nyawera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Manager of Merewent Cheshire Home, Winnie Mkhize, thanked Engen for their support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are grateful to Engen for their generous donation.
