This year the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) proudly celebrates the 11th anniversary of our Nappy Run campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign raises awareness about children with disabilities and encourage the donation of children\u2019s nappies and adult incontinence products from
03 October to 03 December throughout South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our successful National Annual 5KM Event took place at the Johannesburg Zoo on Saturday, 05 November, whilst various Nappy Events are taking place countrywide during Disability Rights Month until International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 03 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our Celebrity Ambassador, Eloise Cupido was there to cut the Ribbon at the start-line. After a fantastic 5KM in wonderful weather, Eloise handed over the 1st place Prize to 16-year-old Khanya Masabalala, 2nd place to Sinenhlanhla Zwane and 3rd place to Sihle Tsotetsi. Busi Smith received the Prize for Best-Dressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children (and adults) with disabilities often have a high need for nappies through childhood and beyond; requiring the use of nappies into their teen and adult years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWithout a nappy, children are often denied dignity, comfort, freedom of movement, and their health is compromised.\u201d Says Therina, the National Director at the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Saturday\u2019s Run collected a good number of nappies and Nappy Rands for which we are extremely grateful. We still need your support, following two Covid years, the database of individuals and Centres is larger than before. The NCPD makes a humble, but urgent call to all in South Africa to support its nappy collection drive by donating nappies, larger than standard baby sizes, or by making a monetary (Nappy Rands) donation towards the purchasing of nappies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
